Scratch programming project

1. Identify a design situation, give a brief introduction

- My scratch design is based on a problem which is between me and my best friends in Sweden. The problem is us being a far way apart from each other and i think that is a problem because we  were so close and even though I will find new friends they will  never be the same as them. Also moving schools, cities or even countries, can be stressful and cause problems and depression at a young age which we really should not have at this age. No teenager should have to feel this now. (Today there about 350 million people suffering from depression.) This stress could cause us to stop eating and loosing our petite. Which later on in our lives can cause digestive and/or stomach problems. The stress can causes us chest pain, headaches, illness and shyness. All these problems also effect school work, you don't concentrate as much in lessons, you don't pay attention to what the teacher or others are saying and so your grade is not as good as it should be. lower grades with later on in our lives cause digestive and stomach problems. So to present this problem I am going to use scratch programming, the scratch will look something like, friends standing in one spot and an other one leaving saying goodbye and crying. So the investigation will be (The Different Effects Of Moving)

2. Outline the needs to solve a problem.

- Since i left them we all have been sad, we Skype as often as we can and count every day until we       meet again. we meet in the summer and spend as much time together as possible. This is a problem because I don't get to see my best friends everyday, I don't get to have those same laughs. The  same moments. The friendship we all shared was something special to me and all of them, that was something you don't find often in life. This problem has to be solved so that all of us 5 can get that friendship back that we all shared before.

3.Explain and justify the need for a solution to a problem for a specified client/target audience.

-This problem can be solved by traveling and meeting them more often, so that we don't loose our bond. this problem can only be solved my money. It costs money to travel, now that is one more problem because we are not all millionaires who can take a plane to Sweden at Friday morning and fly back Saturday evening. But the solution to this can be that me can arrange something with a airline, maybe make an agreement. Sponsor them and build point so that we can travel cheaper. There are always solutions to a problem, whatever the problem might be but you need to fight hard enough to make it possible.

4. Explore identified, real-life design problems set in familiar and unfamiliar contexts.

- Most of the people that move away from their current country have to leave a lot of their loved ones behind, Such as family and friends. it is always hard to leave them behind as specially for the first time moving somewhere far. Especially in Dubai or the UAE, since it is a international business city. New people move here everyday, they all come from all over the world and expect Dubai to be so amazing, but it is not like that for everyone. The reason for moving here is usually (dads job). The things you do for money don't always turn out as great as you expected. They always say, - you will find new friends there its  fine, don't worry.
But it doesn't always work like that for everyone. It is good to travel and discover new places and cultures. but if you keep traveling around too much you keep leaving people behind and in the end you might be left with depression because of not having anyone by your side when you need someone the most.To find out more about this problem and if people have been through the same thing, I will go around and interview people and talk to them about how they felt and how they have it now,

The Different Effects Of Moving from different people:

analyzing the information:

In the information which I have collected that is shown above, I have included what gender that was involved in this investigation, where they are from, how many times they have moved through out their whole life in general, how they felt by moving to Dubai and leaving their family and friends and how they feel now after some years after the move. As I can see from the information above which I have collected i can see that it has been hard and sad for the mayoralty of the student to move countries. About 70 % of the student were either sad, angry or depressed when they moved to Dubai. But then i also saw that people who were moving from poorer countries were happier to move away and live in a popular, big and rich city. On the other hand, people from richer places with better economy and land, witch have more opportunities and chances weren't to happy about the move as the others. Most of the people from the class were happy and confident after the move, that must have been around 75% of the students. Almost everyone found friends and are happy now, but there is still 12% of the students feeling sad about this. There is still people felling down and lonely, People who don't  have any friends and who want to go back to their home countries.

Planning my scratch programming:

Background and texture
  • three parts in the background
  • very sad - okay - happy
  • first part is dark and sad ( to show depression and sadness)
  • middle part is going to be a bit happier. Brighter colors. (shows good emotions, comfort and fairness.)
  • third part is going to be very bright and happy ( shows happiness and good comfort within your life and people close to you
symbol/main meaning
  • world globe (to represent the international people moving around from country to country)
  • airplane (to represent traveling around)
  • lines (connecting all the countries to Dubai)
Text, dialog or emotions
  • sad - happy - fine faces in different places (to represent their emotions)
  • person jumping out of plane with parachute in his mind as a thought (to represent an escape from sadness)
  • big text across the world globe which says (I MISS YOU)

Practicing scratch programming:

I have created this scratch in order to know more more and about it and to practice for my final out come. This scratch is about a man who is enjoying a nice view at a park. the man also loves to play drums and makes a god beat while enjoying his time out.
to create this scratch I choose a back round which in this case is a park. i then exchanges the scratch characters from the cat to this man. he looked more cool and suitable for this scratch than the cat did.
it was really fun doing this and creating music with the different elements that were available and i hope to do more of it and to learn more about scratch.

Design brief

Story boards about my scratch design idea

Here are the tho story boards that i have done. the first one includes more information about the data that i collected. it shows what countries people have moved from. To represent the countries i have drawn a flag for each one. Then we have the percentage of what people felt before the move and it looks like it is very equal. Representing this picture I have drawn two globes which both of them represent different emotions, one of them is sad, Representing 70% of the people, The other half is
happy and has 75%. The third pictures includes one globe which has many lines drawn to it from all directions representing the different countries students are coming from. the last picture includes one big globe which is separated in 3 parts, (very sad - okay - very happy) thees parts represent different peoples opinion on moving and how they feel before and after the move.

The second story board is a bit different. It includes the same big globe which is separated in 3 parts. showing (very sad - okay - very happy), It also has the same big globe which has many lines connected to Dubai from other countries which also represents the different students coming in from different countries and nationalities all over the world. the other the pictures are different. One of the is a air plain flying from (in this case Sweden) to Dubai. the back round is dark which represents sadness. the last picture is a big globe where  two people are standing on each countries and there are two (in this case Sweden) and Dubai. The two people standing there are wearing a happy face while thinking of sad stuff and being hurt on the inside.

Justification of my design

I have chosen to the the first story board. It includes more information about my project than the other. It explains  my data and ideas very well. I think that it is going to be hard creating this scratch design. I don't have that much experience with scratch programming and it will therefore take me longer time to do this. My ideas are also very complicated so therefore i don't think that I will be able to finish it in time. I will try my best to finish it off and learn more about scratch programming and make it in time. It will be challenging and bot hard and fun to do this project so i am hoping for the best.

Reflection upon my peer evaluation:

I have completed all of my work during this term in all of the criteria. There are reflections after every criteria. i have designed and done my scratch the way i wanted it to be, but if i had more time the outcome of my scratch would have been better. I have successfully met the criteria for this term and i am very happy with what i have achieved.

Reflection

Testing:
I have asked other people in the class and outside the class about how they feel by moving countries, cities or schools. I have noticed that the ones who were moving from poorer environments were very happy by moving because they were moving away to a better place. while the ones who already lived in a good environment and a lot of friends weren't so happy about the idea. some feel depressed, sad and angry in a moving situation while others feel happy and thrilled to move.

This project has been booth fun and very challenging.
I have enjoyed the learning about scratch and also other topics such as depression and other peoples opinions on moving. To be able to create all of my ideas and information on scratch i had to study a lot about different feelings and ask around a lot of different peoples opinions. It has been very fun and very knowledgeable. We got to learn s lot about other programs and all about how it works. I wish that we could have had more time to complete our work. Because my work was very long and complicated so for the outcome to be very good I would want to have a bit more time to finish off my work. But I am proud of the work that i have achieved and i have enjoyed this term in ICT and i hope that we do something similar next term.

scratch

First time doing scratch programming

It was difficult and confusing but once you got started it all started making sense.
you were supposed to '' scratch '' something of your own interests or hobbies.
it took long for me to  get started so I didn't really get to finish it the way I wanted.
it was fun working on it and discovering different movements, sounds and figures.
