Suilding a 3D sculpture/shape

Today in class we have started a new project, we have been told to go on a website called www.tinkercad.com. There we have been told to watch through some trailers or lessons to learn about the website and to know how to use it. We have been told to sculpt/build something out of our own creativity and to experiment with the functions available for us.



Reflection: This website has very poor functions. It has a very small amount of shapes and does not included enough functions to work with. This website has been very confusing and hard. Also since it contains poor qualities it decreases my chances of thinking more creatively in creating this 3D model. This website has been very nerve racking and annoying. Since none of the functions worked as i wanted them to, so I decided to create something more easy in my style. Since my technological skills are very poor I decided to create something very easy and simple. I created two chicken friends.

Reflection - Week 3

Tuesday: I have Started to work on my information now. I have made one page where I have written all about all of the five topics which I have chosen which are; The months of the year, The days of the week, Colours, Numbers and family members. This I have done by translating from English to French. When I finally finished this page I decided to add some videos and pictures. I added these to some of the topic since the page looked to empty and boring. The Two videos that I added was about Number and Months of the year. The video with the Numbers has a lady talking and trying to explain how to pronounce all the different numbers from 1-100. The second video is about all of the months of the year; where a guy is singing a song in French about the months. Last I added a picture which includes some of France Cultural places and foods. After creating this I tried to get started on the quiz but it seemed impossible to Create a quiz at that time and insert it on to the website so I left it for next lesson.

Thursday: I have gotten started on My quiz with the help of my Partner in this project (Jisang Kim). I have chosen a little bit from each topic and mixed it up to around eight questions. These are all tick questions since I did not have time to find a Quiz maker which Creative ways of asking questions of answering them. My plan from the beginning was to make a quiz with cool effects which would Draw a line between answers connecting them from one to an other.  I also wanted to make bubbles and have the tick in those. But since I did not have time for that I had to stick with what
I had to be able to finish my work in time. I have worked very hard on this website and really tried my best to come up with creative ideas and expand on them more. I have kept changing my background picture over 7 times to find the right one. And it all has been very challenging since we had a certain topic to make this about. To create a layout for the website was very easy but what was hard was to create the quiz on a time pressure and learn how to insert it on to the website. This project has been very fun to and I learned much both about ICT and French.

Reflection - week 2

Tuesday: I have started to understand the website now and all of its functions. It is becoming easier to understand and I have come very far. So far I have created the Welcome page and the introduction. I have started on the different topics but I don't want to continue any further yet until I have finished fully with my first two pages. These have taken me a long time because it takes time to find the right background picture and try to fit the page back ground  with the actual whole page background. And then It is very important to fit the text colour, style and size to match with the two backgrounds. Also to include pictures and videos to interest people and make the website more exiting. I did all this plus I started on my third page until my whole creation got deleted. So sadly I now had to begin all over from scratch again. This accident put me under time pressure but it got solved with time and i managed to finish what I needed to finish in time.

Thursday: I have continued working on my French website. I have came up with a lot of different creative ideas that I can use for my web site. These have all been very useful for this website and this project. I have had a lot of fun so far while creating this website. It has gotten a lot easier to create and come up with ideas because as I said the website is filled with opportunities which makes you open up to the many opportunities and possibilities that you might have. I have finished my page of introduction about the topics. There I have included pictures which flow, slide, fly, fall in or appear in. I have both used pictures from Wix it self and also I have used pictures from Google. These have been pictures such as the Eiffel tower, The nature of France and the different topics that I have chosen. This all took very long at first because this was the time where I had to figure out how to insert your own pictures and how to insert them in a box so that they can appear the way that I wanted. In the end I managed to complete my creative introduction page about the topics.

Reflection - week 1

Tuesday: We got a task handed to us, this is meant to be complete on Thursday the 26th May.
we have gotten this task from two different subjects. This task is related to ICT and French. Our task is to create a website for the year sevens to learn French online. This is going to be a website for the Year sevens to learn Basic French online. I am going to create this on Wix. All of the information is going to be made/written in my French class. I am working on this with Jisang Kim. We have come together because we work well and so we have decided to work together on this project. We have chosen 5 topics in French to include in our website. These are: colors, numbers, days of the week, months and family members. We have worked on these  topics in French. We feel confident about these topics and so we have decided to choose these 5 topics. We have come up with fun ideas and creative ways of learning in our French class and so we have combined our knowledge of ICT and French and decided to create something Good. We have just started but we think, no we know that it is going to be very creative and good. :)
The website and the whole creation of it is going to be challenging since our skills in ICT are not that good. So far our planning has gone very well our team work has been very effective as well and i think that this project is going to have a very good outcome. Also our only concern is how to create the actual quiz and the overall unit test. It is going to be challenging to create it for free somewhere online and then insert it somewhere on the website.

Thursday: We have finally started our website and so far it is going very well. We have created a good template and a good welcome page. The website has many various options which makes it easier for you to be more creative and do more effective in class and produce professional and good work. The website is also a bit tricky since you have to figure everything out by yourself. All of the functions that it has are not explained so you have to experiment a lot with the website to finally understand what is is capable of. This takes a lot of time as well, that worries me for time pressure and not being able to finish in time since we have so much to do and since the website has so  many functions it will be very hard to find them all in time. The Wix programme is easy to work with but the problem is that all of our ideas take time to create since there are so many and also because of the website being very detailed and having so many functions. But so far it is going good and progress is happening.

Term 3- multi language website (inter-disciplinary unit with FML)

Statement of inquiry: Designers must consider the multiple cultural perspectives in communicating effectively by way of language to suit the need of the end users.

Task: To create a multicultural website

Target audience: Grade 7 students

Introduction:  I am a student of French for 1 year. I started studying French in 8th grade in term 2, since that was the period that I arrived at. I am gong to create a website for the year 7 students about how to  learn French online. This website is going to include a lot of different topics such as the months of the year, the days of the week, the numbers (1-50) and the last topic that we are going to educate about is going to be about the family and different family members. I am going to work in a pair for this website project together with Jisang Kim. Me and Jisang Kim have decided that we are going to ask questions in French and and give them multiple choices of answers for them to choose the correct one. For the colors we are going to paint clouds in specific colors, then we will tell them to find a specific colour by selecting one of the correct clouds. This will be the same for the rest of the topics. They well be told a story or a meaning where they have to select a correct answer in the multiple choice columns. So the website is going to include pictures and text for the year 7 students to encourage them to learn online on modern technology. There are ready made tools that enable you to create a website such as wix , weebly etc... There are web authoring software like Dreamweaver that enable you to design your own website from scratch. I have tried dream weaver and this is my first task about me.

Reflection: For this unit I have found it very hard to work with the website. It has been very confusing and babe to understand. Also with all of the noise in the class it is very hard to concentrate and and listen to the instructions that are given! To create a website has been very hard and tuff. To figure out all of the buttons and meaning and how to smoke things or add thing on to the website has been very confusing so therefor I think that this unit is going to be challenging and interesting.

Malware 

is a abbreviated term from the word malicious system.This is a software which is specifically designed to gain access or damage a computer with out the owner knowing. this is a type of virus.To prevent the Malware, you have to install an antivirus and keep it activated. Also you have to make sure not to use unknown wi-fi for your devices.By preventing Malware and installing the anti virus on your device, it  will protect your files and devices from viruses, hacking, theft and other problems.

Fire wall

Firewall is both a hardware and a software. Hardware is a part of the computer which enables you to block the switch from the software to other computers. Software is a set of programs. the features of firewall are, powerful managements, easy to use, multi - tenancy. 

Pharming 

Pharming is a scamming practice which is based out of codes which hack the cookies. pharming is a slight change on a website. 

Virus

A virus is a kind of code that is able to affect your devices. It can erase or steal all of your information that you have on your devices and steal your personal details. So to prevent these types of viruses, or viruses in general, your could install anti-virus, perform daily scans, surf smart, use a hardware-based firewall.

Reflection on articles from real life situations of hacking

There was a young girl from Sweden who visited a website which showed movies online. This website had tons of commercials and ads telling the girl to click here and there to win a price. The girl then accidentally pressed the links and the ads. Nothing seemed to happen so she went out of the ads and started watching the movie that she had been wanting to watch. It was only until after the movie that she realized that someone had hacked in t her computer and taken several pictures of her through her camera.  She than saw that these pictures of her were posted online for everyone to see.
The girl then contacted the police after speaking to her parents about what happened. The police luckily managed to delete the pictures from the net and the girl then learned her lesson. Not to click on ads or  advertisements.

peer evaluating on students tech fair projects

Maya and Mais 

Maya and Mais wanted to created their own movie trailer out of movie scenes that already are existing and so they did. Their project looked very interesting and creative. Also knowledgeable. It looks like it took them a very long time to create this project. to edit and structure their project takes a lot of time. They worked equally on this project and created a good trailer. The trailer genre was a Action movie mixed thriller. The plot was about a man who was some sort of action character who then had a girl. They seemed to be connected in a way that the man had to go off and save her. Maybe it was his daughter or niece or cousin. In the plot of the movie the girl then gets kidnapped and so then the man is trying to save her. She has been kidnapped for 6 years and so the journey began. They used several editing programs such as, windows movie maker and other websites. To improve on their project they could have created a 30 minute long movie by 


Yanis, David and Parth 

They produced a RTA game that was based on Pokemon. They also made a trailer of the game showing how the game works and telling you what to do. the music the the game is very happy and catchy. The game is very fun and interesting but is a bit to childish for me. The software's they used to create this was Item editor, advanced math, Yape and A-edit 


Mehul and Kunuz 

They created a spy car that can drive in dirt, grass and high places.The car was bought but then they added up a camera holder which can hold the phone while driving. They made a video tutorial on the car about how it works and also they created an app which explains all the information about the spy car. The app was created by the software called Appy-pie and the video was created with i movie.the project is very creative and fun. Sneaky and cool. I liked it.

Makis, Adnan and Sid

Their tech fair project was creating a game called (the big escape) using the software gamegru. The game is about a area filled with zombies and so there is one man who has to escape the are with out dying. they had a very structured plan. They also had good ideas and they managed to develop their ideas very well. the game is fun and very well made.


Tye and Jisang Kim 

They created a game that is called zombie attack 2016. The game is about zombies invading a ware house up in the mountains.This took the guys 2 weeks to do and they both worked equally on this project. They created their game on a software called roblox when they were half way threw their project the software asked them to pay 9850 AED so they had so changes software and they ended up using roblox.

Aamnah and Sneha 

So these two have decided to create a stop motion video. The skills that they used was editing ,timing , organization and creativity. 
they used a few software's, some of them were dragon frame, time- lapse and final cut pro.
Their project was very creative, you can see that they have dedicated a lot of time to this project.
They made two tries when they expressed anger, sadness and happiness by stop motion pictures.
They drew their pictures on a white board in which they could erase easily, edit and  change the characters movements and moods. This project was very hard for them to create and draw. For them it was much easier to take photographs of things and add them together rather than drawing and erasing. The video has to flow and go in a smooth direction so therefor it was very important for the pictures to be exact and precise. If you are not careful with  your drawing skills the video might look stiff and move like a robot. Therefor it is very hard to change the picture and make it move in a flow. 

Caroline 

Caroline worked alone on this project. she wanted to create a light by usig two wires of aligator clips, one pencil with both ends sharpened  and one Christmas light which she cut off and then separated the wires. 
She first wanted to make the light go off by drawing with graphite pencil n a piece of paper. Then she wanted to connect the drawing to the aligator clips and so it was supposed to light up. But since that did not work because of thin graphite she had to clip the aligator clips directly onto each end of the  pencil and so it worked since it gave more power than the graphite than the one on a paper. To develop her idea further, she could have cut some pens to collect more of the graphite so that in this case she could have drawn a thick and beautiful painting and maybe even light up more that one lights. This would both improve on her learning skills and development skills.

Is technology a blessing or a curse?

Whether technology is a blessing or a curse

There are many different points of views to this topic, many people say that technology is a blessing and many people say that technology is a curse. First let’s look as to why technology is a blessing.
The first reason as to why technology is a blessing is due to the fact that, Technology has been around for 2.5 million years on our planet. Before the humans existed, the monkeys and other animals had their own technology. Technology is one of the most important things on our planet. Without technology we would be nowhere in the world. We would stand still and not move forward. With the technology that we have created we can now do the amazing things and develop amazing ideas. Because of technology we have been able to invent things like:
  • -       Biotechnology
  • -       Civil engineering
  • -       Communication
  • -       Computing
  • -       Consumer technology
  • -       Electrical engineering
  • -       Energy technology
  • -       Materials science
  • -       Measurement
  • -       Medicine
  • -       Military technology
  • -       Nuclear technology
  • -       Transport technology

The reason as to why technology is a blessing is due to the fact that it helps us humans on a daily basis, technology is everywhere and it is being consumed all the time. One of the main reasons as to why technology is a blessing is due to its impact of the healthcare industry. Around the whole medical industry technology is having a massive impact, and the vast majority of doctors are using technology to cure and aid their patients. One example of that is cancer patients are being treated with chemo therapy which is a form of technology and it is designed to aid and assist cancer patients.  Another form of how technology is a blessing is the fact that it has a significant impact on every work place and on every industry, Businesses use technology to work on their products which includes Designing, Development, Production, Marketing, Communication ect…  Technology also assists other developments and industries such as the hospitality industry which includes hotels, services etc.,

There are many different types of technology and there are many reasons as to why technology is a blessing and a curse, the first reason as to why technology is a curse is due to its addictions people may not realize this but technology meaning Mobile phones, Computers etc. are highly addictive according to the telegraph teenagers are on social media using technology more than 27 hours a week, that shows that technology is a curse and how it can affect people on a daily basis.

In conclusion I believe that technology is a blessing and not a curse due to the fact that the advantages of technology outweigh the disadvantages because it has such a big positive impact on our lives it can’t be a curse, research and development is still trying to perfect the use of technology, although it is addictive I believe that if it in the right hands technology is a blessing.

Criterion A - evaluating someones project


Nuclear Fusion Reactor — Thiago Olsen

    

I was looking at many different tech fair projects online and couldn't seem to find anything until I found this project. This is really creative and smart considering that it was made by a 15 year old boy. This boy really could make a change if he continued with coming up with good ideas.


This boy only had a budget of 3.500 dollars. This Michigan high school student Thiago Olsen managed to build a nuclear fusion reactor in the back of his garage when he was only 15 years old. it took him a lot of studying to be able to do this project. He read a lot of physics text books, he used vacuum pump manuals and searched the internet for the best deals he could find to buy parts that he could use in his project. His device is unfortunate not self - sustaining  and produces fusion but only on a small scale. This project, idea and device is pretty impressive for any kind of teenager.






Thirteen-year-olds Jamal Dudley and Tariq Sewell said they like technology.
“The part that excites me the most is you can use your imagination,” Jamal said about why the pair built a recycling robot—a robot that picks up recyclable materials and deposits them into appropriate bins.
“In our classrooms, people don’t use the recycling bins correctly,” Jamal said. “There would be…food in all of them and paper in the plastics [bin] and plastics in the paper bin. We can correct that.”
It took the two DeKalb Academy of Technology and Environment students two days to build and program the robot, made of pieces from the Lego NXT Mindstorm setup box. 
“We’re not lying; it took us two days,” Tariq said. “We use our time wisely.”
The recycling robot was one of 186 projects in the 2014 DeKalb County School District (DCSD)Technology Fair held Feb. 8 at Elizabeth Andrews High School in Stone Mountain.
